"The Friday Night Knitting Club" part one.

I'm currently reading "The Friday Night Knitting Club" by Kate Jacobs. I've only gotten 25% finished, but I have to tell you, it's a very interesting book. I relate with the main character, Georgia Walker, because she and I have some similarities... other than the fact that she knits [And yes! I knit... I taught myself a couple years ago! I'm in no way a pro, but I can make some pretty scarves! =) ]

Georgia is a single-mother raising a daughter and runs a knitting shop (a creative outlet-turned business). So far, the book describes Georgia's struggles as a single mother/business owner; the uncertainty of letting her daughter's father back into their lives; the uneasiness of reconnecting with a long, lost friend who stabbed her in the back; and the many different personalities and lives of the women who come together on Friday nights at for their weekly "knitting club" sessions.

It's good... I know what some of you are thinking. A knitting club? What the heck? Who even knits anymore? But I feel it's a creative and beautiful art (& skill) that is slowly fading away. To be honest, I enjoy knitting... when I find the time. It's very relaxing and rewarding [especially after completing a project--even if they are just scarves & they're not NECESSARY (except as fashion accessories) in San Diego (= ].

I suggest you read it yourself. I know this blog isn't a book club, but like the popular cliche, "Reading is FUNdamental!" and it keeps your brain working! More news on the book soon (hopefully I'll find some time to get some reading done)!
